History of the Bird Hide Repair
The Bird Hide located on Edithvale Road was repaired and reopened in 2016. A dedicated team spent four years working out how to fix the hide, getting all the paperwork in order, finding a builder and funding but it has been worth the wait as the repairs have improved the downstairs viewing area.
Since this time it has been subject to recurrent flooding as water levels have risen in the wetland, particularly in 2022 and 2023-24.

Historical North Edithvale Wetlands Project
The Friends group completed the management of a $52,000 development project (based on a grant for this purpose) to rehabilitate a large section of the Edithvale wetlands. This project was managed by Barry Ross, and then Rex Chugg. Plants for the rehabilitation were sourced from the Carrum Indigenous Nursery. The photos below show a planting of 400 trees with the assistance of Green Corp.
